Set to poems by Wilhelm Müller, Schubert's Winterreise describes a sombre winterscape that underlines the bleak journey of a young wanderer suffering from lost love and loneliness. Composed of 24 songs, Winterreise reflects the composer's desolation and struggle toward the final months of his short life.
'In preparing to sing Schubert's great depiction of a winter journey, I've drawn on Beckett's sardonic humour as well as Bob Dylan's guttural rasp,' writes Ian Bostridge. With his interpretation of Schubert's Winterreise, the renowned lieder singer will fill Hong Kong's mild winter with an expressive chill!
